Scuba Season

Ichetucknee Springs

Florida Springs · United States

Ichetucknee Springs State Park protects a 6-mile spring-fed river fed by nine named springs including Ichetucknee Head Spring, Blue Hole, and Mission Spring. The river runs through a pristine subtropical hardwood forest with no development visible along its banks, creating an immersive wilderness diving experience utterly different from the commercial spring parks. Scuba diving is permitted at Blue Hole Spring, which drops to 22 feet over white sand and opens into a cavern zone accessible to cavern-certified divers. The rest of the river system is snorkel-only to protect the ecosystem and manage visitor numbers. Visibility at Blue Hole routinely reaches 25 meters. The park caps daily visitor numbers aggressively, so early arrival or advance reservation is essential, particularly in summer.
