Dibba Rock
Fujairah · United Arab Emirates
Dibba Rock is Fujairah's friendliest dive site and a perfect introduction to the rocky reef diving of the Gulf of Oman. The site is a broad submerged rock shelf sloping gently from 5 m to 15 m, its surface covered in encrusting corals, anemone gardens, and dense congregations of reef fish that show little concern for divers. Bright orange anthias hover over every patch of coral, large pufferfish drift by with comical slowness, and the sandy channels between rock sections are crossed by schools of goatfish with their sensitive barbels constantly probing the substrate. Visibility here is typically better than at Fujairah's more exposed sites because the rock is partly sheltered by Dibba Bay, and the gentle slope and shallow maximum depth make it genuinely accessible to divers of all experience levels. An excellent night dive destination too, with moray eels hunting actively in the open and octopus hunting over the rubble.
