Hole in the Wall
Fujairah · United Arab Emirates
The Hole in the Wall is one of Fujairah's most distinctive dives, a wide swim-through tunnel cut through the rocky headland at 10 to 14 m that connects two separate bays and creates a genuinely exciting passage dive. Entering the tunnel from the northern side, you follow a narrow canyon that gradually widens into the main arch, its ceiling covered in orange cup corals and the walls studded with blue sponges and nudibranchs. Glassfish pack the interior of the tunnel in extraordinary numbers, parting as you push through and closing behind you like a living curtain. The exit opens into a deeper rocky wall where lionfish patrol the base and large trevally hunt in the open water above. The swim-through itself takes only a few minutes but the sensation of moving through the rock with life on all sides is hard to match.
