Underwater at Martini Rock

Martini Rock

Fujairah · United Arab Emirates

Martini Rock is the most celebrated dive site in Fujairah and a genuine gem of the Gulf of Oman, a submerged rocky pinnacle that rises from 18 m to within 5 m of the surface and supports an extraordinary concentration of marine life for its size. The rock itself is riddled with crevices occupied by moray eels of multiple species, some of the largest specimens in the UAE peering out with impressive menace from dark recesses in the stone. Schools of rabbitfish and sergeant majors orbit the pinnacle continuously, and nudibranch diversity here is outstanding with dozens of species documented on the encrusting fauna that coats every surface. Resident honeycomb moray eels coil dramatically around the top of the pinnacle where the coral cover begins, a signature encounter that divers talk about long after leaving the water.
