Underwater at Funaota Wall

Funaota Wall

Funafuti Atoll · Tuvalu

The eastern outer reef of Funafuti drops in an almost vertical wall from 3 metres at the crest to beyond 50 metres, draped in gorgonian fans, black coral, and massive table corals on the upper sections. Visibility regularly exceeds 35 metres. Napoleon wrasse are resident here and large schools of blue-striped snapper shelter in coral overhangs. The site is completely exposed to the open Pacific and is diveable only in calm conditions.
