Orange Canyon
Dive site
Orange Canyon is a deep cleft in Grand Cayman's west-facing wall where two walls converge into a narrow chute whose vertical faces are entirely colonised by orange elephant ear sponges. The canyon descends from around 18 m at the lip to beyond 30 m where the walls flare open and the sponge coverage thins into gorgonian fans and black coral whips. Turtles rest on the sandy ledges mid-canyon, and eagle rays circle the open-water column at the canyon mouth. The site is moored and accessed by boat, with mild currents that typically push divers gently north along the wall.
