Green moray eels are the largest moray species in the Atlantic and hold territories within the reef overhangs of Labadie's wall, reaching lengths of over two metres. They hunt nocturnally by scent, controlling populations of octopus, small fish, and crustaceans in the reef crevice community, and their density at Labadie is a function of the abundant prey base on an underfished reef.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
