Schools of horse-eye jacks containing hundreds of individuals sweep through the mid-water column above Labadie's reef wall in tight, synchronised formations that are a signature sight of healthy Caribbean reefs. They hunt cooperatively at dawn and dusk, corralling small reef fish against the wall face, and their abundance at Labadie reflects the site's relative freedom from gill-net fishing.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
