Stoplight parrotfish are the primary bioerosion agent on the Les Arcadins reef, their parrot-like beaks removing algae and dead coral tissue and producing carbonate sand in the process. Large supermale individuals in vivid green and red colouration hold feeding territories across the reef crest and their biting activity is audible to divers within several metres.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
