Luli Island Nurse Shark Flats
Puerto Princesa / Honda Bay · Philippines
Luli Island (its name means "half submerged" in Filipino) is surrounded by sandy flats and seagrass meadows that shelter the largest congregation of nurse sharks in Honda Bay. Multiple tawny nurse sharks rest motionless under coral outcrops through the day, easily approached to within a few metres. The adjacent seagrass beds host dugong feeding trails, and sea turtles are regularly seen grazing. Depths stay shallow, making this a perfect first-dive-of-the-day site and an ideal location for underwater photography in natural light.
