Manta Reef Inhambane
Inhambane · Mozambique
A permanent cleaning station on a shallow pinnacle complex where resident oceanic and reef manta rays queue in spiraling aggregations while cleaner wrasse and remora remove parasites in a near-daily ritual. Visibility here often stretches beyond 20 metres, letting divers hover midwater and watch mantas perform graceful barrel rolls through plankton blooms. The site sits in a natural upwelling corridor that concentrates zooplankton, explaining why the same individual mantas return week after week throughout the year.
