White-tipped reef sharks rest in piles beneath ledges and inside lava tubes throughout Tortuga Negra Bay, emerging at dusk and dawn to hunt reef fish in coordinated packs. They are entirely accustomed to divers and remain motionless as snorkelers and scuba divers approach within a meter. Their nocturnal hunting behavior — flushing fish from crevices by pinning them against the reef wall — is one of the most compelling spectacles available on a night dive here.
