Underwater at Corbiere Pinnacles

Corbiere Pinnacles

Dive site

The granite pinnacles off Corbiere Point at Jersey's southwest corner rise from a sandy seabed at 28 metres to within a few metres of the surface, their faces covered in jewel anemones, dead men's fingers, and soft corals. The tidal race around Corbiere concentrates nutrients and draws in bass, pollack, and coalfish to hunt in mid-water. Grey seals from a small local population are regular visitors. Edible crabs and lobsters shelter in the gaps between boulders at the base of each pinnacle. Spring brings spider crab aggregations. The lighthouse on the causeway above is one of the most photographed in the British Isles, but the diving below it is often overlooked.
