Bowen Island
Jervis Bay · Australia
The rocky reef circling Bowen Island is the signature dive of Jervis Bay Marine Park and a reliable address for wobbegong sharks. Spotted, banded and tasselled wobbegongs drape themselves over ledges and boulders at every depth from 5 to 20 metres, sometimes stacked on top of one another. Eastern blue groper, large schools of luderick and yellowtail scad move through in dense formations, while Port Jackson sharks rest in crevices from June through October. Visibility is exceptional year-round thanks to the near-pristine catchment feeding the bay.
