Tres Puntas Wall
Dive site
Tres Puntas is a three-pronged volcanic headland on Robinson Crusoe Island's eastern flank where the seafloor drops vertically from a shallow rocky platform to depths beyond recreational limits. The wall is one of the most species-diverse sites in the archipelago, with layers of endemic sponges, black coral colonies, and carpets of the Juan Fernández sea urchin (Loxechinus albus) covering every surface. Camotillo — the local name for Seriolella violacea, an endemic schooling species — form massive aggregations at the wall's mid-depth range, and pelagic amberjack and wahoo appear reliably during the austral summer months when warm surface water pushes nutrient-rich upwellings against the island's steep flanks.
