Daviqele Wall
Kadavu Island · Fiji
Daviqele Wall on Kadavu's northern coast presents a gentler gradient than the outer barrier, transitioning from a coral garden at 8 metres through a sloping wall to sandy terraces at depth, making it ideal for multi-level dives. The wall is encrusted with enormous barrel sponges and giant gorgonians, creating micro-habitats for hawksbill turtles that graze the encrusting algae between the corals. Napoleon wrasse patrol the upper reef in numbers, often approaching divers to within arm's reach in a display of the relaxed human-wildlife relationship that characterises Kadavu's less-visited sites.
