Naingoro Pass
Kadavu Island · Fiji
Naingoro Pass cuts through the Great Astrolabe Reef as one of its main tidal channels, funnelling nutrient-rich water that attracts schooling grey reef sharks and large pelagics on every dive. Drift dives through the pass are exhilarating with currents reaching 2-3 knots at peak tidal flow, sweeping divers past coral-encrusted walls where anthias clouds glow orange in the blue. The channel's deep blue void contrasts with the vibrant shallow reef plateau, creating dramatic encounters with schooling barracuda and midnight snapper in the mid-water column.
