Dutch Bay Wall
Kalpitiya · Sri Lanka
A sheltered wall dive inside Dutch Bay, the natural harbour formed by the Kalpitiya Peninsula, where colonial-era Dutch traders once anchored their spice-route vessels and left behind ceramic-encrusted wreck debris. The wall drops from 5 m to 25 m and is carpeted in yellow and purple sea fans, with nudibranchs and flatworms making every centimetre a macro photographer's discovery. It is the most accessible dive in Kalpitiya, diveable even when the northwest swell closes offshore sites, and ideal for night dives that reveal an entirely different cast of octopus, cuttlefish, and crustaceans.
