Sea bream

Diplodus sargus

Sighting evidence at Kekova Reef, Kaş

White seabream are protandrous hermaphrodites that begin life male and transition to female. Schools of dozens cruise the rubble and ruin corridors of Kekova, feeding on sea urchins and molluscs attached to ancient stone. They play a significant bioturbation role, turning over sediment and exposing substrate for colonisation.
