Sheraton Caverns
Kauai · United States
A spectacular lava tube system off Poipu Beach, Sheraton Caverns consists of three parallel tubes penetrated by shafts of filtered light that illuminate the walls in vivid orange and gold. Spinner dolphins frequently shelter in the calm water just outside the tube entrances, resting in tight pods before their nightly feeding runs. Hawaiian green sea turtles haul out on the sandy ledges inside the largest tube, a behavior rarely documented at lava tube dive sites elsewhere in the Pacific.
