Green turtles are the defining species of Da Wan, resting on coral bommies and grazing on sea grass patches in the shallows with calm indifference to divers. Juveniles congregate in the mid-reef zone while larger adults occupy the deeper coral heads near the sandy bottom. Their presence in consistent numbers is a testament to decades of protection inside Kenting National Park.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
