Nuclear Power Plant Reef
Kenting National Park · Taiwan
The warm-water outflow from the Maanshan Nuclear Power Plant creates an artificially heated reef ecosystem that supports remarkable coral diversity and fish density. Hard coral tables and sea fans extend along the reef edge, patrolled by titan triggerfish, dense schools of fusiliers, and hunting grouper. The nutrient-rich current draws pelagic species close to the wall, making this one of South Taiwan's most reliably productive dive sites.
