Aka WWII Aircraft

Dive site

A Japanese WWII aircraft — believed to be a Mitsubishi Zero or naval bomber — sits largely intact on a sandy bottom at 25 metres off Aka Island. The fuselage is encrusted with black coral and gorgonians; lionfish shelter in the engine bay. The wreck is compact enough to circumnavigate in one dive and clear enough for wide-angle photography in Kerama Blue visibility.
