Kashiwajima Wall
Kochi / Tosa Bay · Japan
Kashiwajima Island hosts the most accessible wall diving in Tosa Bay, with a near-vertical limestone face beginning at 8 metres and continuing past 40 metres. The wall is encrusted with large sea fans, tube sponges, and crinoids in brilliant colours, creating a tapestry that rewards slow, careful exploration. Smaller pelagics including barracuda schools and large amberjack cruise the blue water off the wall. Japanese wobbegong sharks rest in crevices along the upper wall, and leopard moray eels are common. The sheltered bay on the island's lee side provides an excellent check dive and night diving venue with rich macro life.
