Tatsukushi Seamount
Kochi / Tosa Bay · Japan
Tatsukushi Seamount rises from 50 metres to a broad summit plateau at 18 metres off the Tatsukushi coast, a UNESCO-recognised geological area notable for its hexagonal basalt columns on land. Underwater, the seamount concentrates large pelagics: hammerhead sharks circle the pinnacle during summer months, and large schools of mobula rays appear from August through October. The plateau top supports dense hard coral and hosts large grouper and Napoleon wrasse year-round. Strong upwelling currents make this an advanced site that rewards drift diving skills with consistently exceptional pelagic encounters.
