Walung Outer Wall
Kosrae · Federated States of Micronesia
The Walung Outer Wall drops from a pristine table-coral garden at 10 meters into an abyss well beyond sport diving limits, presenting one of Micronesia's most undisturbed reef wall ecosystems. Large barrel sponges the size of bathtubs punctuate the wall every few meters, sheltering lionfish and giant moray eels in their shadows. Schools of barracuda rotate slowly in the mid-water just off the wall's face, and grey reef sharks appear reliably at depth whenever a mild current is running.
