Kubbar Island Reef
Kuwait · Kuwait
Kubbar Island sits at the southern tip of Kuwaiti territorial waters and hosts the country's most visited coral reef, a fringing system of brain corals, Porites heads, and finger corals rising from 3 metres to 14 metres along the island's eastern face. Resident green turtles feed on seagrass in the shallows while large shoals of yellowfin emperor circle the deeper coral bommies. Whale sharks have been recorded here during April and May as they follow plankton blooms pushed in by spring southerlies.
