Lefkada Blue Cave
Lefkada · Greece
On the northern tip of Lefkada, a series of sea caves and arches carved into the white limestone coastline produces one of the most bioluminescent and visually extraordinary diving environments in the Ionian. Light enters through submerged openings and reflects off the cave walls in intense blue and turquoise hues that divers describe as supernatural, while the cave floors are covered in dense communities of bryozoans, sponges, and fan worms that thrive in the dim, current-fed interior. Large brown meagre hover in the cave mouths in small groups, and the cave exit at depth opens onto a boulder field where octopus and scorpionfish complete an already remarkable dive.
