Aer Bajo
Lembeh Strait · Indonesia
Aer Bajo is Lembeh's premier night macro site: the black sand erupts with activity after dark as mimic octopuses patrol in hunting formation, wonderpus display their banded arms in threat postures, and bobtail squid hover just above the sand, their photophores strobing as they hunt. By day it is a reliable site for blue-ringed octopus, flamboyant cuttlefish, and sand divers.
