Gili Trawangan Wall
Lombok · Indonesia
The west-facing wall of Gili Trawangan is a classic Indonesian wall dive, dropping from a coral-crowned lip at 5 metres to a sandy bottom beyond 40 metres. Sea fans the size of dinner tables anchor to the rock face alongside enormous barrel sponges, black coral trees, and gorgonians heavy with crinoids. When the Lombok Strait current runs south, the wall turns into an effortless drift with giant trevally and dogtooth tuna hunting above the blue while nudibranchs and ghost pipefish hide in the coral structure.
