Underwater at Henry Leith Wreck

Henry Leith Wreck

Madang · Papua New Guinea

The Henry Leith is a small coastal freighter that sank in Madang Harbour and now rests upright on a sandy floor at around 18 metres. The wreck is completely encrusted with soft corals and sponges, making it as much a reef as a shipwreck. Lionfish hover in doorways, schools of glassfish fill the holds, and nudibranch hunters will find dozens of species on a single dive. The shallow, calm conditions make this an ideal night dive — torchlight brings out pygmy cuttlefish, bobbit worms and an extraordinary variety of flatworms.
