Scuba Season
Underwater at Calanggaman Island

Calanggaman Island

Malapascua · Philippines

Calanggaman is a postcard sand-spit island 30 km south of Malapascua with a marine reserve on its northern face, where manta rays arrive at a cleaning station on the reef slope between 15 and 22 meters. The reef itself is a mix of hard coral gardens on the crest and gorgonian-draped walls dropping to 35 meters, with eagle rays and large bumphead parrotfish schools patrolling the outer edge. The crossing is longer and sea-state dependent, making Calanggaman a true expedition from Malapascua — but one of the few sites in Cebu where mantas are reliably present rather than opportunistic.
