Manado Tua Wall
Manado · Indonesia
A dormant volcanic island rising steeply from Manado Bay, Manado Tua drops into a near-vertical wall festooned with giant sea fans, black coral trees, and sponge towers from 5 m all the way past 40 m. The nutrient-rich upwellings from the deep bay attract schooling jacks, surgeonfish, and resident Napoleon wrasse patrolling the wall face. Macro photographers find pygmy seahorses on fan corals and a parade of nudibranchs on every ledge.
