Green turtles are year-round residents at Obyan, grazing on the extensive seagrass beds behind the reef and resting on the sandy ledges below the reef crest between feeding bouts. Saipan's waters fall within a marine protected area and green turtles here show little fear of divers, making Obyan one of the most reliable turtle-encounter sites in Micronesia for divers of all experience levels.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
