Green turtles are year-round residents at Abu Dabbab, resting on sandy patches between feeding bouts on seagrass and algae. As adults, they shift from carnivory to a near-exclusively herbivorous diet, making seagrass meadows like Abu Dabbab's an essential foraging ground. Juveniles and sub-adults occasionally share resting ledges on the fringing reef with hawksbills, making mixed-species turtle sightings common.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
