Shaab Claudia
Marsa Alam · Egypt
Shaab Claudia is a horseshoe-shaped reef south of Elphinstone whose protected inner lagoon nurtures extraordinary coral gardens and a resident population of spotted eagle rays. The outer walls drop sharply to 40 m with consistent current that brings Napoleon wrasse, barracuda schools, and occasional thresher sharks in winter. Night dives inside the lagoon reveal a hidden world of hunting octopus, ghost pipefish, and sleeping parrotfish cocooned in mucus bubbles that rivals any macro site in the region.
