Grotte de la Triperie
Marseille Calanques · France
A spectacular cavern and tunnel system carved into the white limestone base of the Calanques cliffs, Grotte de la Triperie is one of the Mediterranean's most photogenic cave dives. The main cavern floods with a vivid turquoise light at certain angles, its ceiling encrusted with bright orange cup corals (Astroides calycularis) that thrive in the low-light environment. Lobsters, moray eels, and sleeping nurse-like angel sharks tuck into the sandy floor.
