Robert Lagoon
Martinique · France
Le Robert on Martinique's Atlantic coast is a protected mangrove lagoon studded with islets (ilets) that create a mosaic of seagrass beds, patch reefs, and murky mangrove roots — Caribbean macro diving at its best. The sheltered shallow water is a nursery habitat for juvenile fish of dozens of reef species, and the seagrass meadows support an unexpectedly rich assemblage of seahorses, pipefish, filefish, and frogfish that rewards patient, slow diving. Visibility rarely exceeds 10 to 15 metres but the density of cryptic life compensates entirely.
