Passe en S
Mayotte · France
A sinuous S-shaped pass cutting through Mayotte's outer barrier reef that funnels the tide with enough force to produce exhilarating drift dives through dense clouds of barracuda, tuna, and grey reef sharks. The channel walls are draped in pristine hard and soft corals that have largely escaped the bleaching events affecting much of the Indian Ocean, with massive table corals extending to 4 metres across. Eagle rays patrol the sandy floor of the pass in the slack between tides, and Napoleon wrasse of imposing size shadow divers for the full duration of the dive.
