North Twin Pinnacle
Mergui Archipelago · Myanmar
North Twin Island is the northernmost significant dive destination in the Myanmar liveaboard circuit, and its main pinnacle on the island's eastern face is the site most reliably associated with scalloped hammerhead shark aggregations in the Mergui Archipelago — groups of 20 to 60 individuals have been documented at depth between 25 and 40 meters from December through February. The pinnacle rises from 45 meters and is encrusted with pristine table and branching corals on its upper sections, while the deep base transitions to a sand slope where leopard sharks and stingrays rest during the day. The isolation of North Twin means almost no fishing pressure, and the surrounding reef is among the most structurally intact in Myanmar.
