Three Islets
Mergui Archipelago · Myanmar
Three Islets is a cluster of granite outcrops in the central Mergui Archipelago whose underwater geography — channels, overhangs, and a dramatic swim-through between the largest two rocks — creates an exceptionally varied dive in under 25 meters. The site is defined by the density of soft coral growth on every vertical surface and the tidal currents that funnel through the channels to feed enormous gorgonian fans. Juvenile ornate wobbegong sharks shelter in the overhangs, nurse sharks rest on sandy patches between the islets, and the channel walls host some of the most photogenic pink and yellow soft coral colonies in Myanmar. Current is strongly tidal — the best dives happen on incoming flow from the west.
