Doini Island Mandarin Garden
Milne Bay — Samarai & China Strait · Papua New Guinea
A sheltered rubble and staghorn garden off Doini Island in southern Milne Bay province, purpose-known among photographers for dense mandarinfish (Synchiropus splendidus) courting displays at dusk. Hairy frogfish and coconut octopus are resident on the sand patches between coral heads, and the site is calm enough for night dives throughout the year.
