Nuakata Pinnacles
Milne Bay — Samarai & China Strait · Papua New Guinea
Isolated coral pinnacles rising from 40 m to within 8 m of the surface on the eastern approach to Milne Bay. Gorgonian fans the size of dining tables host pygmy seahorses (Hippocampus bargibanti and H. denise), crinoid shrimps, and hard coral in exceptional condition. Grey reef sharks and leopard sharks rest on sandy ledges between the spires.
