Several large individuals — some exceeding 70 centimetres — hold territories at the base of the basalt columns where boulder piles create shelter. As protogynous hermaphrodites, the largest fish at Glaronissia are all male and represent decades of growth in a site with low fishing pressure. They are bold and will approach divers closely, making for outstanding wide-angle photography.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
