Green turtles graze on seagrass patches at the shallow sandy margins of the reef and often rest motionless on flat coral platforms, making them easy to observe without disturbing. Several large adults return to the same resting spots year after year, and local operators recognise individual animals by their facial scales and shell markings. Nesting females come ashore on nearby beaches from May to October.

Green Sea Turtle is listed as a curated species here based on historical reports.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
