Magic Rocks
Moheli Marine Park · Comoros
Magic Rocks is the signature dive of Moheli Marine Park — two enormous coral-encrusted bommies rising from a sandy bottom, carpeted in hard and soft corals and visited by a reliable cast of reef sharks, green turtles, moray eels, and parrotfish. The sandy plateau between the bommies is calm enough for training dives, while the drop-off to 20 metres holds the more interesting encounters. Napoleon wrasse cruise the bommies' upper reaches, and hawksbill turtles are common year-round. During humpback whale season (July to October) surface intervals here are frequently interrupted by blows and breaches.
