Underwater at Nioumachoua Wall

Nioumachoua Wall

Moheli Marine Park · Comoros

The Nioumachoua Wall drops vertically from 8 metres to over 30 metres along the fringing reef directly off the main dive base of Moheli. Dense soft coral growth in purples and oranges covers the wall face, with fan corals, wire corals, and encrusting sponges filling every surface. The wall is reliably calm and makes an ideal first dive in Moheli for acclimatisation. Turtles rest on the wall ledges, and groups of reef fish shelter in the coral overhangs. Deeper sections occasionally produce shark encounters, and the resident moray eels are bold and photogenic. Night dives here are outstanding, with invertebrate activity on every square metre of wall surface.
