Underwater at Tiahura Shark and Ray Feeding

Tiahura Shark and Ray Feeding

Moorea · French Polynesia

Tiahura is Moorea's most famous dive site and the epicenter of the island's legendary shark and ray encounters. On the sandy floor at 15-18 m, blacktip and lemon sharks circle in loose aggregations alongside marbled stingrays and sometimes a solitary tiger shark. The site has been a structured feeding station for decades, creating habituated sharks that approach closely and provide unparalleled photography opportunities. Coral bommies ring the sand patch with healthy cover of Porites and Acropora, and dense schools of snapper shelter in the gaps.
