Tiki Point
Moorea · French Polynesia
Tiki Point is a pronounced reef promontory on Moorea's south coast where the outer barrier reef turns sharply and generates consistent mild upwelling. The current brings cooler, nutrient-rich water to a slope covered in enormous sea fans and black coral trees below 25 m, while the shallower terrain above 20 m is a mosaic of hard coral tables and coral heads alive with hawksbill turtles, Moorish idols, and dense wrasse populations. Eagle rays circle the point on most dives, and a resident school of barracuda holds position at 22 m year-round. This is Moorea's best site for large-format underwater photography.
