Khor Sham North Wall
Dive site
The northern limestone wall of Khor Sham — the longest fjord in Musandam at approximately 25 km — descends vertically from the waterline to 50 m before giving way to a rubble slope. Overhangs and crevices at 15 to 25 m shelter lionfish, hawkfish, and resting nurse sharks, while the wall face is coated in orange and yellow soft corals that thrive in the cool nutrient upwellings channelled through the khor. Spinner dolphins are encountered on almost every boat transit from Khasab, often bow-riding and following divers during the ascent. Between October and March, whale sharks are reliably sighted inside the khor itself, feeding on plankton concentrated by the fjord's restricted water exchange.
